The Dukakis Center Hosts “Alumni Career Talks” Event in Skopje, North Macedonia
On Saturday, 28 March 2026, the Dukakis Center inaugurated its new event series, Alumni Career Talks, aiming to reconnect ACT alumni with their alma mater and engage the wider public. The first event in the series took place in Skopje, North Macedonia, and featured a Masterclass on North Macedonia’s EU accession process and its significance for young people. The initiative reflected the Dukakis Center’s longstanding commitment to youth civic engagement across Southeast Europe.
The event featured Mr. Jovan Stojanovski (ACT Class of 2015) and Ms. Jana Chapovska (ACT Class of 2025), who reflected on their studies at ACT, the skills and competencies they developed during their academic journey, and how these experiences prepared them to become active, internationally minded citizens — qualities that are especially important for the citizens of an aspiring EU member state.
The event was well attended and warmly endorsed by the Greek Embassy in Skopje. The Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Christina Vasilatou, delivered a short address highlighting the importance of North Macedonia’s European perspective and the positive role that Greek educational institutions can play in fostering dialogue, understanding, and an informed younger generation on the path toward full EU membership. In this context, Anatolia’s longstanding educational presence in the region offered a meaningful point of reference for the discussion.
Anatolia’s Executive Director of Institutional Marketing & PK-12 Enrollment, Mr. Theodore Papanestoros, also presented an overview of Anatolia’s long educational history, dating back to 1886, and introduced Anatolia American University as the newest chapter in Anatolia’s higher education mission. His presentation also included an overview of the undergraduate programs currently offered at the University.
The presentations and Masterclass were followed by an engaging Q&A session with attendees. The event successfully reaffirmed Anatolia’s strong ties with its alumni community, the Greek Embassy and Greek community in Skopje, and the wider public in North Macedonia, while also highlighting the continuing role of Anatolia American University in advancing the institution’s educational mission in Greece and the wider region.
