Students develop technical knowledge, analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and practical experience that can prepare them for careers in software, data science, AI, cybersecurity, networking, systems, and other fast-growing areas of technology. 2. Do I need prior coding experience to study Computer Science? 2. Do I need prior coding experience to study Computer Science? No. Prior programming experience can be helpful, but it is not required. The program starts from the fundamentals and gradually helps students build their coding, computational thinking, and problem-solving skills. What matters most is curiosity, persistence, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn how to approach complex problems step by step. 3. Is studying Computer Science only about writing code? 3. Is studying Computer Science only about writing code? No. Coding is an important part of Computer Science, but the field is much broader. Students also learn how to design algorithms, solve complex problems, understand systems, work with data, manage networks, conduct research, write technical reports, and think critically about how technology is developed and used. A Computer Science degree helps students move beyond simply writing code and toward understanding how digital systems are designed, implemented, tested, secured, and improved. 4. What will I study in the Computer Science program? 4. What will I study in the Computer Science program?Students study core areas of computing such as programming, software development, algorithms, databases, computer systems, networks, operating systems, cybersecurity, web development, artificial intelligence, and data science. As they progress, students can explore more advanced topics depending on their interests and course availability, including AI, machine learning, advanced database management systems, networking, security, and software engineering. 5. What is the difference between Computer Science and Business Computing? 5. What is the difference between Computer Science and Business Computing?Computer Science focuses more deeply on the technical foundations of computing, including programming, algorithms, software development, systems, networks, databases, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data science. Business Computing combines computing with business-related areas such as management, finance, economics, marketing, and organizational decision-making. Computer Science is usually the better fit for students who want a more technical degree and are interested in building software, understanding systems, working with data, or pursuing advanced computing fields. 6. Can I specialize or shape my studies within the Computer Science major? 6. Can I specialize or shape my studies within the Computer Science major?Yes. While students complete a core curriculum in Computer Science, they can choose higher-level courses that allow them to tailor their studies toward specific interests. Depending on course availability, students may focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, networking, advanced database management systems, data science, cybersecurity, software development, web technologies, or computing systems. 7. Will artificial intelligence make Computer Science degrees obsolete? 7. Will artificial intelligence make Computer Science degrees obsolete? No. Artificial intelligence is changing the way technology professionals work, but it does not make Computer Science obsolete. On the contrary, it increases the need for graduates who understand programming, systems, data, algorithms, software architecture, AI applications, and the responsible use of technology. As AI tools become more common, Computer Science graduates will be expected to solve higher-level problems, design and evaluate systems, manage AI-enabled applications, and understand the technical foundations behind the tools they use. 8. Can I complete an internship as a Computer Science student? 8. Can I complete an internship as a Computer Science student?Yes. With support from the Career Office, Computer Science students may pursue internships that allow them to gain professional experience before graduation. Internships are optional but highly recommended, as they help students apply classroom learning in real technology environments and strengthen their CV or portfolio. Internship opportunities may relate to software development, IT support, data analysis, networks, cybersecurity, web development, technology consulting, startups, or other computing-related fields. 9. What can I do with a Computer Science degree? 9. What can I do with a Computer Science degree?Computer Science graduates can pursue career paths in areas such as: Software development Artificial intelligence and machine learning Data science and data analysis Databases and information systems Cybersecurity Computing systems and networks Web and mobile applications IT consulting Technology project management Research and development Graduates may also continue to postgraduate studies in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields. 10. How can I build a strong career profile while studying Computer Science? 10. How can I build a strong career profile while studying Computer Science?A strong GPA is useful because it shows consistent academic performance, but it is not the only factor that matters. Students should also build an online portfolio, work on projects, gain internship experience, develop teamwork and communication skills, and prepare early for technical interviews or assessments. The program, faculty, and Career Office help students identify opportunities and build the academic, technical, and professional profile needed for employment or postgraduate study.
