Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Investing (And Never Dared to Ask)

Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Investing (And Never Dared to Ask)

A four-session seminar in English

We all learn how to make money.
We should learn how to invest it.

Investing can raise questions at any stage, from deciding what to do with your first savings to reviewing investments you already hold.

This short, practical seminar explains the key principles of investing in clear, accessible language and offers a framework for making informed decisions about your money. No professional background in finance is required.

No complicated mathematics. No stock-picking tips. No promises of getting rich quickly.

What you will learn

The seminar is based primarily on the ideas presented in Jonathan Clements’s How to Think About Money and John C. Bogle’s The Little Book of Common Sense Investing. These two books provide its guiding framework: first, how to think sensibly about your money, and then, how to invest it sensibly.

How the stock market really works
What you're actually buying when you buy a share — and why owning businesses differs from betting on prices.

Why it's so difficult to beat the market
And why some of the world's most successful investors recommend a surprisingly simple approach.

The extraordinary power of compounding
Why time may be the most powerful investment tool you possess.

Why costs matter so much
How seemingly small fees can destroy a surprisingly large part of your long-term wealth.

The world of ETFs
What exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are, how they work, and why they've become one of the most important innovations in modern investing.

Diversification
Why putting your eggs in many baskets may be one of the simplest, most powerful decisions you can make.

The psychology of investing
Why intelligent people make irrational decisions — and how to avoid the traps. Drawing on the work of Daniel Kahneman and Richard Thaler.

How to pick the right investment manager
How to assess an investment manager's approach, fees, performance and fit with your goals.

How to build your own investment strategy
A simple, disciplined approach that doesn't depend on predicting tomorrow's market.
