A Journey Through History: Opening of the Photography Exhibition “The Greek Miracle in Tashkent” at the Bissell Library
The opening of the photography exhibition “The Greek Miracle in Tashkent” was successfully held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the Bissell Library of Anatolia American University.
The event brought together students, faculty, and members of the wider academic community, offering a meaningful opportunity to engage with a significant chapter of modern Greek history and diaspora.
The exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Greek Cultural Center in Uzbekistan, highlighting the University’s commitment to international cultural dialogue and the promotion of historical awareness through academic and cultural initiatives.
During the opening event, Konstantinos Politis, President of the Greek Cultural Center in Tashkent, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the historical trajectory of the Greek community in Uzbekistan, as well as on the Center’s sustained efforts toward its revitalization and cultural development.
The audience also had the opportunity to attend an online address by Dr. Nikos Dallas, researcher of the archives of the Greek Community of Tashkent, who provided valuable scholarly insight into the lived experiences of Greek political refugees and the historical significance of the archival material presented.
Running from March 11 to April 3, 2026, the exhibition features more than 100 archival photographs documenting the life, resilience, and cultural identity of the Greek community in Tashkent. Through this visual narrative, the exhibition highlights themes of displacement, memory, and cultural continuity.
The exhibition remains open to the public at the Bissell Library during regular operating hours.
