Guest Speaker Babis Filadarlis Brings Export Marketing Expertise to the Classroom

Students in the MNGT 101: Introduction to Management morning class at Anatolia American University recently had the opportunity to attend a guest presentation by Mr. Babis Filadarlis (MBA, Dip M., MIEx.), who shared valuable professional insights on Export Marketing within the framework of the course’s Global Environment chapter.

Mr. Filadarlis delivered a presentation titled “Export Marketing: Realities and Challenges”, offering students a practical perspective on how to approach and plan marketing strategy in international markets. Drawing from his extensive experience in exports and international business support, he explored the realities companies face when expanding beyond domestic borders and the key considerations that shape successful export activity.

The session placed special emphasis on the prerequisites that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) need to develop in order to pursue international growth effectively. Among the areas highlighted were the importance of a strategic mindset, financial leverage, an outward-looking business mentality, a strong competitive advantage, and the human capital skills needed to support sustainable expansion.

Students responded with strong interest, asking questions and seeking further information, particularly in relation to the growth of their own family business activities. Their engagement underscored the value of connecting classroom learning with the realities of today’s business environment.

Mr. Filadarlis brings a distinguished background in the field of export development and international cooperation. He is the CEO of Global Greece Export Support Services, served for more than 15 years as General Manager of the Northern Greece Exporters Association, and is Director of the Institute of Export Research and Studies (IEES) of SEVE. He has also contributed as National Advisor of Greece for international cooperation programs through Europartenariat exhibition meetings and played a key role in the design and implementation of agora.mfa.gr, the first integrated online database developed to support Greek entrepreneurs in identifying international business opportunities through Greek embassies abroad.

Guest sessions such as this one reflect Anatolia American University’s commitment to connecting academic study with professional practice, giving students the opportunity to engage with experienced practitioners and gain insights that extend well beyond the textbook.
