Guest Presentation: Rethinking Scale in Investigative Journalism
The English Department warmly invites you to an interdisciplinary guest presentation titled "'The Egg': How One Story Crossed 11 Borders, From local clues to global truths: Rethinking scale in investigative journalism".
The presentation will be of interest across disciplines, from media studies, discourse, and ethics to law, sociology, and the sciences.
About the Presentation
Ms. Fani Nikiforaki will take us behind the scenes of a Loeb Award–winning Bloomberg investigation into the $35 billion global human egg trade: a year-long, cross-continental effort spanning reporters in 11 countries. The investigation exposed an opaque, largely unregulated fertility industry by following supply chains from egg donors in India and Argentina to clinics in Greece and the United States, drawing on shipping records, interviews with trafficked donors, and police investigations.
